September ITRP Awards - Justice League Addition

2020.10.04 03:17 OurCommonMan September ITRP Awards - Justice League Addition

Hey, everyone! It is a few days later than most, though the September awards have arrived. This time, the awards have been made by Freed and (as per usual!) and Chicken. They have chosen the Justice League as the theme for this one, so drop off a comment and congratulate your fellow writers.
Superman: One of the most famous superheroes to date and practically the foremost of the genre, Superman is known for his incredible powers and opposition to nuclear weapons Superman 4 is canon. Give this award to your favorite character(s) to read over the past month!
Batman: Despite his lack of powers, few can deny how far Batman’s wit, guts, and checkbook have got him. Give this award to the character(s) who has achieved the most over the past month!
Wonder Woman: Diana Prince, raised on the Island of Themyscira, is a demigod, being the daughter of Zeus. But, from a certain perspective, are we not all sons and daughters of the gods? Give this award to your favorite religious character(s)!
The Flash: Though we are only three moons into the iteration, some characters have come and gone rather speedily, not unlike the main speedster himself. Give this award to the deceased character(s) you will miss most dearly.
Green Lantern: The Green Lantern gains power as an extension of his tenacity and willpower. Many characters in our roleplay have great willpower as well. Give this award to the character(s) you wish to see accomplish their goals (or wish to see crash and burn in the process).
Aquaman: Aquaman is often chastised, or considered weak, but this fishy fucker can summon sharks and leap 6 miles in a single bound! Give this award to the character(s) you believe are being slept upon.
Martian Manhunter: Weird, foreign, and often ignored. Give this award to your favorite Essosi character(s).
Plastic Man: Though technically a member of the Justice League, Plastic Man’s most memorable moments are when Batman or Superman use him to hit things. Give this award to your favorite NPC(s).
Darkseid: The world-threatening danger that imperils our heroes, and unlike his Marvel equivalent, does not possess a comical helicopter. Give this award to your favorite fiend(s), villain(s), or jerk(s)!
The Brave and the Bold #28: The issue that first brought the Justice League to life. Give this award to your favorite thread(s) of the past month!
Booster Gold: Freed’s favorite Justice League member, and as such, the character that he has chosen for this award! Use this award to give recognition to exceptional members of the community over the last month!

2019.09.02 06:22 Absinthminded1 Forced OBE w/ Encounter - Maybe Someone Can Make Sense of It

Hello. I am hoping this is the correct sub for this, as I have read other posts containing OBEs but there seems to be an alien interaction in its typical form (extra terrestrial) Although Ive had encounters of various kinds, this deals with an alien being in the context they were non-human entities and foreign to me. I had the feeling they were more of what you'd think an angel-type of some sort is, but they weren't glowing in light and this was not a religious nor ND experience (I didn't die, as far as I know) . Regardless, maybe someone else caen glean some insight...I hope!
Everything was a typical day for me, except my children actually went to sleep on time with no issue ( haha I should've known something was up!) I remember laying on the bed and the moment I closed my eyes, everything spun. I had a sensation of being sucked up and out of my body as my physical self spun away. Almost like if 2 suction cups were put together and then, after good suction attained, pulled apart.
I was guided and although I had a wtf moment, there was no sense of panic. Everything was dark, maybe pinpricks of light far away and curved around, as if I were in a curved place (like looking at pictures of the world- how everything arcs). I don't recall much until i reached a place that to me, i knew was Italy. I could describe the landscape in depth, but to save time and not go Stephen King descriptive, I'll be brief. I glided over countryside, mountains, saw ocean but everything went whizzing by, I could not linger and felt like I was on a rapid guided path... like an otherworldly conveyor. I only slowed slight and recognized Venice. Then it was through a peculiarly low door, something ancient. I remember the color of rust and brick, but then it was down down down. The door never opened and I went through a dank, cobblestone style brick? corridor. That's when I saw them.... They were massive. Larger than I could truly comprehend. 6 gigantic "angels"? but they had their arms crossed in their chests, which had theri bodies encased or imprisoned in these bricks. There were what I think sarcophagi in alcoves in either side. Giant lecterns in front of them with a proportionate book. They were all "meditating"... but they were in chains. Terrifying to look at something so huge and alien to me but also so human looking. I didn't have much time to look at them as I felt my being forced into another door, for some reason in recollection i think of a pub and i feel there are parts of this my mind locked away.
That's where I saw "Him". It felt as though I were in an interrogation room, as I was placed inside this bizarre, perception altering room. It felt as if the side of this white marble half- wall counter were meant for my height yet He was massive. He wore a brown very old style outfit, I'm talking year 1AD style, almost caveman-ish in that it was only covering one shoulder in brown, handwoven linen type fabric. He had shoulder length brown hair, kind of air dried or possibly dirty, but not matted. And it had mild waves, not stick straight but not curly at all. I guess I was allowed a moment to take it all in, I am very confused right now in telling this. I don't understand. I also saw wings. Beautiful black wings but they were ruffled, like he was injured a bit.
There was a long silence and he was patiently looking at me. I noted too, at this point I was in a grayish- white dress, almost like a sleeveless night gown. He was slightly smaller than the beings outside and appeared to be seated. My mind started to drift back to my descent through the door and then what felt like miles of earth to reach this corridor. But then he spoke. It started with an introduction, for the life of me all I can remember is the name he gave began with a T and was 3 syllable. He spoke actual words, not inside my head, and explained he was a neutral being. That there was a division and he refused to take sides and that he was too remain there until some event. But he stressed that they needed me and when the time was right I would remember everything. Thar I had something really important to do and if I didn't, then it would fall to my oldest child, as she "carries the inner mark as [I] do." I remember that at one point, the light was dim and dank light candle lanterns, and there was a soft murmur behind him of several people. It felt like I was in an underground pub of sorts, and there was a big bald "man" (he felt human) that kind of sideways said something to T and then I heard the clank of glasses. T said something back that I couldn't understand and then gave me a strange look. Thinking now, I would nerdily say he was sort of chaotic neutral and I have to laugh at this, because I'm truly flummoxed.
We had a bit more conversation that I don't remember, but then he told me to go back and wait to be contacted. That I had to go past the 6 giant beings and not say a word to them. I was gently and firmly pushed by what felt like a giant warm energy source, firmer in the middle and softer as it radiated out from the center, back into the drippy cool hall in front of the door. I put my head down and walked as silently as I could past the 6 to a bright blinding white light at the end of the "room" I remember it took an eternity to cross and in the musky the was a circular opening covered by a grate that looked like a well that went forever. I couldn't step over this grate, wrought iron like a massive gate in the floor and I felt a feeling of terror if i were to disturb those... those being from whatever they were doing.
As I got to the light, the were really large slabs, similar to the rest of the hall, only here everything was massive. I got to the second step and heard what sounded like heavy chains rustling and felt a crippling headache. Like a migraine. Then I heard the groan. I hid behind the last pillar, these didn't have the candle lanterns as the ones in the room. It was dark and the intense light didn't saturate the room, it was almost contained, i guess. So the only light was from lanters along pillars and the dome in the ceiling.
I cannot emphasize enough how massive everything was, and yet I never felt small as a presence. I just knew these things were incredibly old, strong and chained up. Like 50 yards tall from the waist up. The chains and wings were so much, I remember being literally and still to this day, I remain in awe. My mistake was I looked back. It felt wrong, even though the sounds from the chains and that horrible groan filled my head and made me turn. 1 was looking at me. It felt like contempt. Then I was scared. This wing that seemed to span maybe that of 3 or 4 extended pickup trucks or suburban suvs... the eyes were not ice blue but had some green to it. They weren't human eyes, like a baby alligator is the closest I caen think of to describe them. Jet black hair, again slightly wavy and maybe dirty. Features somewhat asain in the brow bone and eyes when closed. Flawlessly built.
It was awe inspiring and terrifying. When I "returned" it was as if I stepped through the white light, was consumed and then I felt a distinct pop and I was in my bed. A moment later my daughter woke me up. I looked at the clock and it was 02:11. I went to bed between 00:30 - 01:00. She said I scared her because I wasn't there. She fell asleep in my bed and why did I "wake [her] up by jumping on the bed?" That changed how I thought if this. I thought it was a dream.
Many times I felt that spinning when laying down and would wake up and not recall anything but blackness.
Some things to note, and only because they apply. I am a Muslim female, I don't dress in short sleeves nor, do I appear in public without a headscarve. Also, at this point in my life, nothing frightened me as I accepted things as God's will. To wit, I do my best and if He wants to take me from this earth, I accept it and have had experiences testing and confirming this acceptance and lack of fear The events as I was leaving frightened me to the core.
This is not an nosleep. It is as real to me as my life. I just wonder if anyone ever heard of something similar or could help me make sense. My searches to date have yielded nothing. I also don't practice lucid dreaming and meditation (outside of prayer, if it's considered such). As I mentioned earlier, I have had other encounters and the galaxy-eyed man that I posted about, he visited maybe a year after but not longer than that. My mental state was good and I had nothing chaotic occurring. So, if you will ... (questions are fine, but please don't be mean spirited) I look forward to hearing constructive feedback!
PS - ETs can have many appearances, this is also why I don't state that the beings encountered were angels, aliens, jinn, demons etc. I forgot to pick up a copy of Extra Terrestrials 101 - The Definitive Guide to Classification ;)
I will see if I can sketch the room and show on imgur. I also have a feather that we found, but we're renovating and I put its cae into storage. It is a feather easily 1 yard / 3 feet in length and approx 4 inches wide. My daughter found it the next morning in my room. My hair and skin had a strange smell to it also, as I had showered before bed.

2019.05.31 04:41 ChrisTweten Super Duper Sweet Sixteen

In the year 10,001 B.C., a caveman runs away from a predator through a plain and immediately gets into a fight with Wolf (Ike Barinholtz). After defeating him, the caveman then encounters the predator, a saber-toothed, gasoline-drinking Amy Winehouse (Nicole Parker), who informs him that the world will end on August 29, 2008 and that their fate lies in a Crystal Skull. The sequence is then revealed to be a dream of everyman Will (Matt Lanter) in the present day. He then finds out that his girlfriend Amy (Vanessa Minnillo) is having an affair with Flavor Flav (Abe Spigner), and she breaks up with Will because he is not admitting his true feelings for her.
Later that day, Will has a "Super Duper Sweet Sixteen" party at his house, despite being 25. The guests include Juney (Crista Flanagan), Dr. Phil (John Di Domenico), Will's best friend Calvin (Gary "G Thang" Johnson), and Anton Chigurh (Barinholtz), among others. During the party, Amy arrives with her new boyfriend, a Calvin Klein underwear model. The party then comes to a halt when the room shakes and the lights go out. A bulletin on the radio claims there is a meteor shower and it is the end of the world. Soon after, the city starts to freeze over, and Will, Juney, Calvin, and Calvin's girlfriend Lisa (Kim Kardashian) retreat to a garage for shelter. When Juney mentions that the calamities are caused by global warming, Will realizes his dream about Amy Winehouse could be related. Later, Will is chided by the others for not committing himself to his relationship with Amy.
The gang leaves the garage and Will gets a call from Amy, where he admits his feelings for her before the call is dropped. He decides to go to rescue Amy. Lisa is later killed by a meteor. While the others comfort a distraught Calvin, Giselle (Parker), a prostitute, climbs out of a manhole and gets hit by a taxi. Calvin catches her, and they immediately fall in love with each other. Giselle's pimp, Prince Edwin (Tad Hilgenbrink), challenges Calvin to a dance fight for her love, but a tornado appears and Prince Edwin escapes. Iron Man (Gerrard Fachinni), Hellboy (Barinholtz), and the Hulk (Roland Kickinger) attempt to fight it, but all are defeated by cows thrown by the tornado. After taking shelter, Will, Juney, Calvin, and Giselle encounter rabid knockoffs of Alvin and the Chipmunks, who attack the gang and kill Juney. The "Chipmunks" then go after Will and Calvin, but they trap them in a trash can, fatally suffocating them as they attempt to escape.
On their way to the museum where Amy is trapped, the group runs into Batman, who informs them that they must go to evacuation buses and that there will be no chance of survival if they go to save Amy. With time against them, Princess Giselle kills Speed Racer (Jared S. Eddo), and the group hijacks his Mach Five to drive to the museum. At the museum, they save Amy, who reveals that the Crystal Skull is the only thing that can stop the end of the world. Calvin and the Princess then find that the museum doors are closed and all of the artifacts have come alive, including Po from Kung Fu Panda (Yoshio Iizuka), who fights Calvin but is defeated. When Calvin makes out with the Princess, Calvin accidentally pulls her wig and discovers that she is actually a transvestite. While this happens, "Po" takes out a katana and kills Calvin and the Princess.
Meanwhile, Will and Amy run into a nude Beowulf (Barinholtz), who fights with Will. After "Beowulf" is defeated, Will and Amy encounter Indiana Jones (Tony Cox), who is revealed to be Will's father. "Indy" tries to put the Crystal Skull on the altar, but he has an accident. Will does it instead, and he averts further destruction. Will and Amy have a wedding ceremony performed by "The Guru Shitka" (Domenico), it then goes to a extensive musical number about all of the characters dating each other parodying "I'm Fucking Matt Damon" by Sarah Silverman. The film ends with the "Chipmunks" getting crushed to death by a falling cow.

Game Mode Summaries

  • Galactic Assault features the use of normal Trooper Classes (Assault, Heavy, Officer, Specialist), Reinforcements, Vehicles, and Heroes. This mode pits 40 players against each other in teams of 2 in an Attack/Defend scenario. The objectives vary with every map; Hoth will have the Rebels desperately trying to take down 2 AT-AT Walkers, then eventually moving to a 'Capture the Point' if that fails. Kamino shows the Clones attempting to defend against a Droid invasion, whose first goal is to activate and capture an objective. There are 4 primary objective types in this mode: Capture the Point; Activate the Terminal; Attack the WalkeMTT; Plant the Bomb. This mode currently has 12 maps.
  • Starfighter Assault is a mode that is reminiscent of dogfights and space battles. It features the use of three playable ships to spawn in with (Fighter, Interceptor, and Bomber) as well Hero/Villain ships (with a total of 12 Hero Ships in the game.) This mode is heavily objective based, and also features the Attack/Defend formula. This mode has 6 maps.
  • Strike is the mode for those of you who like small, objective based scenarios. This mode will have you capturing an objective, defending cargo, or attempting to steal that cargo. Playable classes here are the four Trooper Classes and the two Reinforcements.
  • Extraction features a "payload" style of gameplay. Here, the attacking team must escort a payload by standing next to it, and defend it until it reaches the end of the map. The defending team must stop the movement of this payload. Playable classes here are the four Trooper Classes and two Reinforcements. There are 2 available maps for this mode.
  • Jetpack Cargo is a fast-paced mode that can be summed up as "capture the flag, but with jetpacks." A cargo spawns in random places around the map, and one player must take this cargo and bring it to the capture point. Doing this three times will result in a win. Playable Class here is the Aerial class, which is one of the two Reinforcement Classes.
  • Blast is the common "Team Deathmatch" mode found in most First-Person Shooters. In order to win, the opposing team must score 100 kills. The playable classes in this game are the four Trooper Classes, and the two Reinforcements.
  • Ewok Hunt can be considered the most unique mode in the game. It follows a "zombie" style of gameplay. 2 players become the Ewok, and 18 players are left as stormtroopers. Stormtroopers are equipped with an E-11 Blaster and a Flashlight with limited use. The Ewoks are equipped with a Damage-Over-Time grenade, a damage buff, and an ability that lets them see nearby stormtroopers. The Ewoks must kill the stormtroopers before time runs out - any dead stormtroopers will become an Ewok.
  • Heroes vs Villains takes all of the playable Hero/Villain characters in the game into one 4v4 match. In this game mode, 1 random player on each team becomes the "Target." The opposing team must kill that target 10 times in order to win the game, whilst simultaneously defending their own. A different player becomes the target once the previous target on their team has been defeated.
  • Hero Showdown is a smaller, more strategic version of HvV. Here, there are two players on each team. To win, one team must be able to defeat both heroes of the opposite team three times. However after each successful round is won, the previous heroes become locked off. e.g Luke and Yoda defeat Vader and Maul. Luke and Yoda can no longer pick those Heroes, so they must become someone else like Han and Chewie. The team who was defeated do not face this restriction.
  • Hero Starfighters is, as it sounds, a version of Heroes vs Villains but with their starfighters. 4 Players on each team take control of a specific Starfighter (Han and Chewies Millenium Falcon, Vaders TIE Advanced, Kylo Rens TIE Silencer, etc.) and attempt to destroy all of the 4 starfighters on the other team. If all 4 are destroyed, the team who destroyed them wins the round.
  • The Campaign follows Commander Iden Versio, an Imperial Special Forces soldier in the aftermath of the death of the Emperor and the explosion of the Second Death Star. It also allows you to play as 'iconic characters' such as Luke, Kylo Ren, Lando, and a few others. The majority of this Campaign is set within the first year after the Battle of Endor.
  • The Arcade allows you to play as any Hero or Class in set scenarios against bots, or in your own Custom Match. Here, you can modify the match time, player health, bot health, rules, ability recharge time, and several other things to your liking. This mode allows for either singleplayer, or for Couch Coop. You can play as Heroes/Villains, Starfighters, Troopers, or Reinforcements in this mode.

Player Progression

In March 2018, the Progression for the game was revamped entirely. Progression is now more linear and traditional, and is based off of what you play. Play a Class/Vehicle/Hero, gain XP Points for the Hero, then once you have gained enough XP Points you will level up. Leveling up gives you one Skill Point, which you can use to buy and upgrade Star Cards. These are upgrades that you can apply to every playable thing in the game, and have a variety of benefits - from increasing health, increasing speed, giving you a new ability, and so forth.
There are 4 Tiers of Star Cards, all taking 1 Skill Point to level up. Common (Grey), Uncommon (Green), Rare (Blue), and Epic (Purple). Upgrading a Card allows it to become more powerful and for the effect it applies to be stronger.

Microtransactions: Crystals and Credits, what to do with them.

Microtransactions in the game are now entirely cosmetic, meaning that the only thing it is possible to buy are skins (different costumes and outfits.) Battlefront II runs off of a "buy what you want" model, meaning that all you need to do is pick a skin and buy it; no lootboxes or games of chance. Currently, you can buy skins for all Trooper Classes, and 9 Hero Characters. Skins are purchasable with Crystals (The Premium Currency which you can buy) and Credits (Currency which you can only earn ingame.)
There are 4 Tiers of Skins:
  • Common (5,000 Credits 150 Crystals)
  • Rare (20,000 Credits 500 Crystals)
  • Epic (40,000 Credits 1,000 Crystals)
  • Legendary (80,000 Credits 2,000 Crystals)
Cosmetics are the only thing you can spend Crystals on. You can spend Credits on both Cosmetics, and to unlock certain Heroes/Hero Ships. New Heroes, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and General Grievous, cost 35,000 Credits to unlock. Here's a link to a small guide that covers Credit Farming. Credit to Stoneagelabs for helping me edit it.

Battle Points and how to Earn them, or: How to become a Hero Character, Vehicle, or Reinforcement in a match.

In order to play as a Hero, Reinforcement, or Vehicle, you need 'Battle Points.' These are points that can be earned only during matches, and by playing the objective, supporting teammates, dealing damage, or kills. It costs 2,000 to become an Air unit (Jumptroopers, Rocket Troopers) 3,000 to become an Enforcer unit (Super Battle Droid, Wookie, Deathtrooper, Flametrooper), and 4,500/6,000 to become a Hero Unit (Luke, Yoda, Darth Maul, The Emperor.) If you're in a match which is based in one era, such as the Original Trilogy (e.g Death Star) then all of the Heroes/Villains from the Original Trilogy will cost 4,500 Battle Points, and Heroes/Villains from the other Eras will cost 6,000. The same goes for if you were playing in a Prequel-Era map or a Sequel-Era map. These Points do not affect your class XP or leveling up in anyway, they are merely there so you can play as different things.

DICE Communication, In-Game Events, and Upcoming Content

Communication:
There are two main forms of Communication done by DICE: Community Transmissions, and direct comments made by a developer. The most common form of communication you'll see on /StarWarsBattlefront are comments made by F8RGE. F8RGE, otherwise known as Ben, can be described as the Community Manager for the game; although since he works so closely with the developers and holds an equally important role in the game, he's more commonly referred to as a developer - which is why you'll see the flair "Dev Response" on posts that he's commented on.
Community Transmissions are a format of posts done officially by EA and DICE as a way to announce news about the game or discuss changes. Examples of Community Transmissions we've had in the past are the: Elite Corps Update CT, which covered the update of the month and what content would be coming in it; and the Year in Review and the Road Ahead CT which summarized the updates and history of the game and what content would be coming to the game. It's normal to get 1-3 Community Transmissions per month.
Ingame Events:
Battlefront II now features Ingame Events. At the start of every month, a Community Calendar will be released by DICE. These calendars cover events of the month for the game. These events range from changing the BattlePoint cost of certain units, to decreasing the spawn time, or adding in temporary playlists. (See November's Community Calendar HERE for an example of them.)
Upcoming Content:
As of 25th December 2018, we currently have 2 Heroes, 1 Mode, and 2 Clone Skins confirmed with set dates, alongside numerous game changes slated for "Early 2019." January 23rd will see the release of Count Dooku (voiced by Corey Burton) and a new Clone Skin (Coruscant Guard). February 2019 sees the arrival of Anakin Skywalker (voiced by Matt Lanter) into the game as a light-side hero, a new conquest-like mode "centered around capturing command posts and taking down capital ships," and a new Clone Skin (501st Legion.) In terms of content confirmed for early 2019, we have: Armored Clone Officers; an Emote Wheel; Lightsaber Combat changes; and a second emote wheel that focuses on strategy ("Cover Me," "Defend Here.")

Switching Server Locations:

Star Wars Battlefront II does not have a server browser. Instead, players are able to choose their server location in the Settings. You can find this under the "EA Account" section. Here, you can change your server location to: Australia, US West, US East, and a few other locations. This is especially handy if you want to switch servers so that you can find more people to play with, or if you want better ping.

2018.08.03 21:45 bocaj93 Clone Wars Campaign: The Surest Way to Guarantee Battlefront's Future

Clone Wars Campaign: The Surest Way to Guarantee Battlefront's Future
https://preview.redd.it/2xji9thilxd11.jpg?width=4683&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2b1276fc2c4a9fc98f62b6e943fe5f0bb2dd84f1
With James Arnold Taylor and Matt Lanter all but confirmed as reprising their roles as Obi-wan Kenobi, and Matthew Wood and Sam Witwer returning as Grevious and Maul (and perhaps Corey Burton as Dooku), we already have a Clone Wars reunion on our hands. Now imagine this:
  • A new campaign for the only era not covered yet during the main or DLC missions
  • Synergy is key here : A new canon story that can be found no where else but Battlefront II. With the Clone Wars show returning for a final season and excitement/enthusiasm at an all-time high, now would be the perfect time to provide more canon content using BFII as a vehicle. The season will wrap up the storyline up to ROTS, but fans will be itching for more. As the last season will make a ton of money for Disney on their new streaming service, Battlefront II will become an exclusive platform by which to provide a new, interactive Clone Wars story. Holdouts of the game would clamber for a new Clone Wars storyline, sales would spike dramatically, and EA/DICE could see a very profitable future for the game and a chance to reinvest in the future of the game.
  • This would also be the perfect time to introduce Ashoka Tano and Asajj Ventress to the game, with their respective actors reprising their roles and giving the BF community one of the most requested pairings to date.
  • There could be a variety of missions, some depicting heavy squad style combat with Rex and Cody and the comradery that fans loved and continue to love. This would also provide new customization options for clones, some could be seen directly in the story (different units are all but confirmed, but smaller things too like kill counts on helmets or special markings from their namesake).
  • There would also be missions with a more force sensitive approach, with Anakin and Ashoka (perhaps with co-op as an option) battling through droids across iconic locales during their missions, and allowing DICE to add new, highly requested multiplayer maps in the process.
  • The campaign could also be the time to roll out several of the Clone Wars era skins (like season one Anakin/Ashoka and Obi-Wan w/ armor), which could generate additional revenue as, again, Clone Wars with #CloneWarsSaved has become incredibly relevant and topical in the SW fandom.
  • To make this a reality, DICE and EA will have to enter communications and gain permission from Disney to add more canon material to the Clone Wars story, but I believe that they would be very eager to take advantage of an excellent opportunity to open more storytelling avenues in a very popular and increasing profitable setting.
  • Lastly, the fans who stayed with BFII throughout everything would be highly satisfied with the increase in Clone Wars material, something that has been on the front of every discussion since before launch. The result: A very happy existing community and an increasing community of new players who see this campaign as evidence that the game has a long and healthy future ahead, and can regain the goodwill of gamers, EA, and SW fans alike.

2018.06.10 03:56 Lord_Edgey Our wish list for the upcoming clone wars heroes.

Super hyped for the new heroes! Now it's time for of us to speculate and ask for appearances, voices, emotes and skins. For voices, I think all of them seem pretty clear cut. Anakin will likely be Matt Lanter as he's essentially the only person to play him since 2008 (contrary to IMDB), Obi Wan will probably be James Arnold Taylor since Ewan has never voiced him in a single animated series or video game, Dooku will almost certainly be Corey Burton whos played him in animation and video games since 2003, and I'm 100% certain that Grevious will be played by Matthew Wood who to date is the only person to play Grevious in canon. But what about skins emotes and voicelines? I can't really think of emotes or voice lines I want right now, but for appearances I want:
Obi Wan: Episode 3 skin (default) Clone wars gauntlet skin (common) Episode 2 skin (rare) Episode 3 robe skin (rare) Clone wars armor skin (epic) Rako Hardeen skin (legendary) Ben Kenobi skin (legendary)
Anakin: Episode 3 skin (default) Episode 3 robe skin (rare) Lightsaber training skin (rare) Clone wars armor skin (epic) Zygeria skin (epic) Padawan skin (Legenday)
Grevious: Uncapped skin (default) Black cape version (rare) Clone wars version (epic)
Dooku: Episode 2/3 skin (default) Uncapped skin (rare) Sith apprentice skin (epic)

2018.03.17 17:40 Taboobat Scribe for KD:M update: expansions and subscriptions (and iOS on the horizon!)

Hello again everyone! You may remember the Scribe settlement app from its introductory post not too long ago. Well, I'm back again with another quick announcement: expansions are here (and subscription options, but you can feel free to be less excited about those)!

Expansions!

All content for the current 12 expansions has been added to Scribe! When creating a new campaign you can select which campaign variant you want (People of the LanteSun/Stars/Bloom), what expansions you want to include (if any), and how you want those expansions included. On a per-expansion basis you can add either All Content, which is exactly what it sounds like, or you can choose to add the Cards Only. Cards Only will add fighting arts, disorders, generic innovations, and weapon proficiencies (really only the Scythe proficiency from DK) for that expansion without cluttering everything else up.
I've figured out how the content is split up mostly through sheer force of will (along with the help of some great people on this very forum) so there may very well be errors. If you find something that's wrong or missing please report it!

I'm only reading this post because you mentioned IOS in the title

Totally fair. While there isn't an iOS version on the App Store yet, I'm getting very close. Very close. I have a build that's 99% working, most of what's left to do is the maintenance around setting up the App Store listing, getting subscriptions ready in the iOS ecosystem, etc. I'm not going to share a firm date but I would expect to be publishing to the App Store in the next couple of weeks.
For now just think of it as the Android users are testing for you, ironing out all the kinks ;)

Subscriptions? You've sold out!

You're damn right I have! Scribe is a shaping up to be a pretty complex app, and it takes up a lot of time to maintain and enhance. For me subscriptions are less of a way to make money (I have no illusions about the size of my userbase) and more of a contract between myself and you, the users. If I have consistent monthly revenue of some kind it's much easier to stay motivated and keep up with regular development. I have so many cool ideas for this app and I would love nothing more than to see them come to fruition.
That said, you can absolutely 100% continue to use Scribe for free. I'm not holding your settlements hostage. At some point there will be ads if you don't have a subscription (small ads, banner accross the bottom type of thing), and I will likely implement some nice quality of life features that will be exclusive to subscribers, but nothing that would be considered critical functionality. Free and subscribed apps will always be 100% cross-compatible for multiplayer.
There are 3 subscription tiers available in the app now (under the Subscriptions menu item): a $2, a $5, and a $10, all billed monthly. There is no difference in what they will unlock in the future (they currently don't unlock anything at all other than a mutual feeling of goodwill).
If you're a Scribe user and you've made it this far I have one final request: drop the app a rating on the Play Store, even if it's not a good rating! I'm coming up on 1000 downloads and have 0 ratings, it's embarrassing :p
Thanks for reading, thanks in advance for those of you who subscribe (extra big thanks to those who have donated already -- you're rockstars!), and stay safe out in the darkness!
If you need a link to store listing, here you go: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tabooapps.scribe

2017.02.22 13:47 ornamental_conifer Lucy and Wyatt

I really enjoy their dynamic on the show. At first I was put off by how much the writers were shoving their burgeoning relationship down our throats (I even rolled my eyes at the Bonnie & Clyde episode) but the ending sequence in episode 15 combined with the sequence they shared towards the end of episode 16 changed my mind. I basically went from this to this. Here's hoping the show keeps going because the Lucy/Wyatt and Jiya/Rufus ships are my OTPs!
It would be beyond cute to see the two pairs go on a nerdy double date to the latest Star Wars movie or something in a future episode, I feel like you'd get the benefits of an adorkable double date combined with a shout out to Matt Lanter's previous voice work as Anakin. XD

2015.08.03 00:34 JimJam0882 Anakin Skywalker. Who is he now?

When we first heard about Anakin Skywalker in the OT, he was described as something of a Jedi hero/pilot and friend to Obi-Wan, as well as someone who was close with his brother Owen on Tatooine, and the kind of troublesome swashbuckler that would worry Owen about Luke in the future.
But then the bomb in TESB was dropped. That hero that was described to us and somewhat idolized by Luke had fallen and become the evil Darth Vader.
And of course he was redeemed by the end of ROTJ, but going forward with the prequels, Anakin Skywalker as a character wasn't who Obi-Wan described in ANH, but more of an entirely different, controversial character. He was brooding, angst-ridden, troubled and dark. And someone who was just waiting to become Darth Vader. It wasn't as tragic or as shocking as it seemed back in 1980 when he fell to the Dark Side, because the Anakin we got was quite obviously just a proto-Vader with only a few of the heroic qualities described to us before...
...in the movies. The novelization of ROTS and a few of the EU stuff, while for the most part, stayed consistent to prequel!Anakin, added a few subtle details and nuances to his character that made him a little more sympathetic and likeable than what we were given on-screen. For example, he acts exactly the same, but with the motivation of becoming a Jedi Master only to save Padme, and then actually leave the Jedi Order. Had he not gotten visions of Padme's death, Anakin would have made a more mature decision to leave the Order much sooner and without Master status, because of how much his aforementioned darkness and forbidden love for Padme didn't jive with Jedi ideals. With that not in the movie, Anakin in ROTS comes off as not only power hungry, but also status hungry for the title of Jedi Master. Or just whiny that the Council doesn't recognize his "power". It's a small detail, but it changes a lot of the context. And since it's a novelization, it isn't exactly a Legends un-canon.
....
The reason I then ask this, then comes down to the animated Clone Wars TV series. There we get a completely different Anakin Skywalker than Hayden Christensen's. The show takes places in between AOTC and ROTS, but Anakin is portrayed very differently by Matt Lanter. He is actually portrayed as the character Obi-Wan described in the OT! He's brave, bold, swashbuckling and charming. He's an inspiring leader, a wise teacher, and definitely the "good friend". Yes, he's not without his moments of anger and angst, but he's far from the whiny brooding teenager the movies offered us. He was through and through a very brave and mature, albeit untraditional/spontaneous, Jedi hero.
The idea that that character becomes Darth Vader is tragic.
But it's inconsistent to the prequel portrayal of him. Matt and Hayden play very different characters. Obi-Wan is consistent, Yoda is consistent, Mace Windu is consistent, but Anakin just isn't. And it's weird because he's arguably the most important character in the saga. The worst part is, both the prequel movies and TCW are considered canon. We're left with two interpretations of Anakin, an angsty teen darkish Jedi and a heroic Jedi General seduced by the dark side. Both canon. ROTS!Anakin isn't a natural progression of TCW!Anakin. It's jarring as there's not a direct link between those two, or from AOTC's Anakin to TCW.
What we're left with is almost like an abstract character. We've had multiple incarnations or versions of Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, etc. but their main differences are their continuity, like New 52 or old DC canon, or MCU vs 616 vs Ultimates. But they remain the same characters. Just on different timelines.
But with Anakin, we have two different Anakin characters*, as the same character in the same continuity.
Who is he now?
...
*Maybe more, as Uncle Owen's side is still inconsistent/untrue to date
..
EDIT: The thing is, though, I'm not saying that it's bad that they're two different characters, I actually like that TCW!Anakin wasn't lost to Legends, but it is weird, that Anakin is, in SW history, a mix of two different portrayals and interpretations. What we've seen of TCW and the prequels are all true, canon things, but with this retcon of Legends and confirmation of what's canon, is Hayden's portrayal the canon Anakin? Is Lanter's? Is there a hybrid of both that is being implied?
I can see how Lanter's Anakin can turn, from his distrust of the Jedi stemming from real things, and the allure of the dark side. But I can also see how Christensen's did, from the Jedi's distrust of him and his immaturity. Lanter's is more tragic, Christensen's is wrought with foreshadowing, but both differ; is what played out in RoTS really even exactly how Anakin's turn played out in the grand scheme of Star Wars canon anymore?

2014.09.29 02:34 fadingsignal All mods / script / AI suddenly run extremely slow after sleeping/waiting. Any tips?

I normally don't post asking for help/advice, but I can't figure this one out. It's an odd one.
I noticed yesterday that after sleeping or waiting, suddenly all mods, all scripts really, including enemy AI, start taking 10 or more seconds to respond. This becomes permanent. I noticed because iNeed wasn't debuffing me when I was hungry, AFT followers stayed nude for at least a minute when going between homes/outside (instead of the 2 seconds it usually takes) and none of the Jaxonz PositioneRenamers respond.
Then I noticed a bandit attack yielded 3 men who were just talking smack and circling me but not swinging their weapons.
I am not getting CTDs, and Convenient Horses displays normal script times for me in the latency test (40ms-100ms).
I save often, using different saves, specifically for cases like this, and I can trace back the date to when it started; at least, I can load up that save, sleep / wait, and the issue does not occur (unless there is a time-bomb script in my game that takes a while to start causing issues.)
I installed a couple of mods during the time between those saves, but deactivating them does not resolve the issue. Those mods are:
Papyrus has a bunch of errors from Jaxonz Renamer for null values (a few hundred every time a game is loaded) but I don't think that's the cause.
Anyone ever heard of this?
Here's my load order, just in case: http://pastebin.com/1Fjmhfhd -- it's hefty, but I have not had any stability, or latency issues at all until now, 300 hours on the same character (though mods have been added gradually over time.)
Thanks!

2014.07.05 15:35 LithiumKnave Hello fellow summoners. I am a new Shyvana and in need of assistance.

I have recently picked up Shyvana because I main jungle and heard she was OP. Although when i looked up builds I couldn't find many useful ones up to date and wasn't sure if I should go Ancient Golem or Wriggler's Lanter. I have had little success with both.

2013.12.14 06:38 life_is_spiffy [REQUEST] Lilly (9 months) deserves a good Christmas (KY)

Some pictures of Lilith Anne
Amazon Wish List
Hello, reddit! I never thought I'd be asking total strangers for help on the internet... but here I am. I've been on reddit for awhile, but am too embarrassed to use my real username for this.
I'm disabled due to an illness I've had since childhood (not genetic) and my fiancee is stuck at a low paying job despite being educated because he's been considered an insurance risk since his cancer went into remission (I know, it sounds like a total sob story... we got together because we both knew what it was like to be sick). We were both told we were sterile so we were very excited when we found out we were pregnant last year. In March we had a perfectly healthy little girl and named her Lilith Anne!
She has given us both so much hope for the future and even if I never achieve my own goals, I will do everything I can to help her reach hers. I had to drop out of college a few years ago and lost my full academic scholarship in IT/Computer Science because I was in the hospital more than I was in class. I'm now doing everything I can to try to get my health in order so I can go back and be someone she can be proud of.
My fiancee and I haven't gone on a single date since we had her and instead have been putting the money aside so we could give her a good Christmas... about $250. We weren't going to get anything for ourselves because we would get more joy from her being happy anyways. Unfortunately, our car broke down the day before Thanksgiving and I spent my Black Friday taking advantage of Advanced Auto's sale... I felt like a horrible parent as I was spending her Christmas money for the car, but I didn't have another choice.
My fiancee picked up a bunch of overtime hours so we could try to get her presents, but his work suspended everyone for 2 weeks because of a budget crisis. The overtime hours are now just going towards rent.
We live simply, we don't have much ourselves but have always been proud of the fact that our daughter has everything she needs and is extremely happy for it... this has just been devastating. All we have under our little 3 foot tree is a few small things I bought used off Craiglist and wrapped in diaper boxes. We were really looking forward to helping her open her gifts on Christmas and now we won't get to do that.
Please help me give my Lil Lilly Bug the Christmas that she deserves! I promise to post photos of her with her presents and I can also guarantee that when she gets too big for them they will be given to another family in need just like I have with everything else she's grown out of.
EDIT: Thank you so much, ibakecookies! You're an amazing person!
EDIT 2: Thank you to lanteral for the present as well! I can't wait to watch her and her kitty chasing it around! Lilly has now received 5 amazing presents from 2 amazing redditors!
EDIT 3: aredditt and his son picked out a few presents for Lilly! The count is up to 8 and the pile of presents looks great! No Christmas tree anymore, our kitty cat determined that our little tree was his playground. He kept trying to give Lilly presents by leaving ornaments in her playpen o_O Maybe next year!
EDIT 4: Lilly got her first present early with some of our family!
